The short version

This site asks for contact and project details when you submit the UGC project form. It does not ask for payment information. Netlify provides hosting and site-performance measurement. Google Analytics and TruConversion are optional and load only after you allow analytics.

Brand project inquiries

The UGC form collects your name, work email, brand, product information, campaign details, intended usage, and timing so Derek can evaluate and reply to the inquiry. Netlify processes and stores the form submission for Digital Derek. The information is used for the project conversation, not newsletter enrollment or advertising. Do not submit passwords, payment details, or confidential product materials through the form.

What the site uses

The search feature downloads a small index of published pages and filters it in your browser. Search terms can appear in the page URL, including when you submit the homepage search form. Netlify processes requests for those URLs as part of hosting the site.

Netlify, the hosting provider, processes ordinary technical request information, such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, and time of access, to deliver and secure the site. Digital Derek uses Netlify Web Analytics to review aggregate pageviews, unique visitors, top pages, referral sources, and broad locations. These reports come from Netlify's server logs; Web Analytics itself does not add browser code or tracking cookies. The reports help identify useful guides and site problems.

Netlify also adds its Real User Monitoring script to measure loading speed, responsiveness, and layout stability in visitors' browsers. Netlify aggregates these performance measurements. Its documentation says this feature does not require browser cookies. This is separate from server-log Web Analytics. See Netlify's Real User Monitoring documentation.

On pages containing product links, Digital Derek counts a page view when the page is visible in an eligible browser. The record contains the page path and day. When you activate an Amazon product link, a separate record contains the page path, product identifier, link placement and day. These records help us understand which guides readers visit and which products they explore.

These first-party event records do not contain your name, email address, IP address, search terms, full referring URL or a visitor identifier. This measurement does not create a visitor ID or tracking cookie. A reload can count as another page view, and one person can activate several links. These are aggregate actions, not unique people, purchases or proof of earnings. Optional Google Analytics uses a separate consent choice, described below.

When you arrive through one of our prepared social links, these records may also include its fixed channel, campaign and post-link categories. Unknown tag values are not recorded. A shared profile link identifies a channel rather than an individual post. These categories remain associated with the open page. Session storage can carry them to other pages in the same tab for up to 30 minutes; this does not create a personal identifier. If storage is unavailable, the tagged page can still be measured, but its categories cannot follow you to the next page. We do not use these categories to identify people or connect visits across devices. The same privacy and internal-visit exclusions apply.

For internal visits, an explicit browser setting stores only a shared on/off exclusion preference in a first-party cookie and local storage. QA visits can store a session exclusion preference. Neither preference identifies a person. It applies to this browser; clearing site data removes it. It does not remove requests from Netlify's server logs or clicks from Amazon's reports.

Netlify processes requests and stores the event records for Digital Derek. Its ordinary hosting and security processing described above still applies. The site skips its own measurement for Global Privacy Control, Do Not Track, marked internal or QA visits, and recognized automated browsers. These checks cannot detect every automated request. The electricity-cost calculator runs in your browser and does not send its inputs or results.

Google Analytics

If you select Allow analytics, Google Analytics measures page visits, engagement and Amazon product-link clicks. It uses first-party cookies containing pseudonymous identifiers, along with information such as browser, device, approximate location and referral source. Google processes this information to provide reports for Digital Derek. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

We send the page's canonical address without query strings or fragments, and only the referring site's origin. We do not send search terms, form entries or shopping-builder answers to Google Analytics. Product-click events contain a product identifier and link placement; they do not report an Amazon order or its value. Known social campaign categories can be included. Google Signals, advertising personalization and enhanced automatic interaction tracking are off.

Choose No thanks to keep Google Analytics off. You can revisit Analytics choices in the footer to withdraw consent; this stops subsequent Google Analytics collection and clears its accessible first-party cookies. Your choice and analytics cookies expire after about six months. Changing your choice does not erase data already collected. The consent choice may also use local storage so a change reaches other open tabs; it is not a visitor identifier.

Marked owner and QA visits, recognized automated browsers, Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track prevent the Google tag from loading. These controls do not remove hosting logs or activity already recorded by Amazon. The aggregate first-party measurement above remains separate.

Shopping-list builder

The monitor builder counts when its introduction or result enters view, starts, progress between steps, completed lists, uses of the copy-link button, and optional “Yes” or “No” helpfulness feedback. If a setup needs another check, it records a fixed category such as an unsupported connection or software permission; it does not record the computer model or your equipment answers. Its event record contains only the tool name, event type, page path and day, plus a format version. Each event type is counted at most once per page load, with one helpfulness response per page load. The same internal-visit and privacy exclusions apply. These counts describe actions, not unique people or sales.

Your equipment answers are not included in these measurement records. When you copy and open a setup link, the selected options appear in its URL so the list can be restored; Netlify can process that URL as an ordinary hosting request. No login, email address or visitor identifier is required.

Links to Amazon, TikTok, YouTube, or another website take you to that company's service, where its privacy terms apply. This site uses Amazon affiliate links with a disclosure before the shopping links. See the affiliate disclosure for how they work.

Before tracking changes

This page will be updated when the site's data collection changes. Contact Derek through the social profiles linked on this site with a privacy question or a request about a submitted project inquiry.

TruConversion

If you select Allow analytics, TruConversion can measure page interactions, heatmaps and masked session recordings to help us improve navigation. It uses cookies to connect activity across pages. Our settings mask visitor input and do not store IP addresses or location information. We do not use it to identify you by name or email.

TruConversion stays off on the brand inquiry form, search pages and pages with query parameters. Owner, QA and recognized automated visits are excluded, as are browsers sending Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. A previous Google Analytics-only choice does not automatically enable TruConversion; we ask for the expanded choice first.

Choose No thanks in Analytics choices to stop optional tracking. If TruConversion is already loaded, the page reloads to end its runtime and its accessible first-party cookies are cleared. Changing consent does not erase information already collected. See TruConversion's privacy policy.
