Confirm the coax route before ordering
This sequence follows the goCoax MA2500D for a private in-home coax network. Use your own model's manual if it differs. Keep your modem, ONT and router in place: the adapters extend the router's local network.

Count the parts for both rooms
A new link normally needs two adapters and their power supplies, two Ethernet connections, and a coax connection at each adapter. The selected MA2500D two-pack covers the adapter count; check the included cables and their lengths against your two locations.
An existing compatible, enabled MoCA LAN bridge in the router can sometimes serve one end. Confirm that feature and interoperability before reducing the order to one adapter. A modem's incoming coax port and an ONT's coax WAN connection perform different jobs.
Make the four connections
- At the router: connect a LAN Ethernet port to adapter A's Ethernet port. Connect A's coax port to the confirmed in-home coax route, then its power supply.
- In the back room: connect the same coax network to adapter B. Connect B's Ethernet port to the computer, TV or suitable access point, then its power supply.
- Allow the link to establish: the current MA2500D manual allows up to two minutes. Repeated unplugging restarts that process.
- Check the connection: confirm the model's MoCA and Ethernet indicators, then try the actual device. If the coax link is up but the device has no internet, check the router LAN connection and Ethernet path separately.
The diagram shows the local network path. It intentionally leaves a shared cable-internet feed out of the example; that arrangement needs the service checks above.
Choose a MoCA splitter for the route
Look for a MoCA-rated splitter supporting the adapter's operating range. The MA2500D guide specifies 1125–1675 MHz. An older splitter marked only 5–1002 MHz is not the documented choice for this route. A higher printed maximum alone is not a reason to choose an unrelated satellite component.
Trace both room cables to the same usable coax network. A disconnected run or an incompatible amplifier can prevent a link even when the room outlets look identical. Avoid buying extra adapters until you know which part of the path is missing.
Match filters to the internet service
Do not add a filter at every convenient connector. The current goCoax manual warns against installing a MoCA point-of-entry filter yourself with DOCSIS 3.1 or 4.0 and directs readers to support for frequency or topology changes. Its older product-page diagrams give different advice for some cable-modem arrangements; use the current manual and your provider's actual configuration together.
This is also a reason to keep a private, unused coax network separate from a satellite or building-wide system. A filter is not a universal fix for incompatible services sharing the same frequencies.
If the MoCA light stays off
After waiting the full interval, the manufacturer's isolation test is to power off both adapters and connect them directly with a short coax cable. Power them on and wait again. If that link works, investigate the house cable path, splitter and service arrangement. If it still fails, use the model's support instructions before replacing components.
Before regular use, follow the manual's security setup, change the default management password and confirm encryption settings. The MA2500D guide says encryption is off by default. Then test a call or transfer from the room. For a wireless endpoint, finish with the access-point or mesh setup appropriate to your existing router.
